World Laughter Day

What a great day we had on Sunday (from 10:00am to 1:00pm) for our first World Laughter Day celebration! We've heard nothing put glowing feedback about the event...everyone really seemed to enjoy themselves, which means we met our overall goal of having fun, so I think it's reasonable to consider it a smashing success!

We did two different rounds of laughter exercises throughout the day, which some people participated in ...and those who did really enjoyed them!

Several people calculated the crowd at 150 people, which was more than we had hoped for, and that means we brought happiness to that many people!

What a great feeling! Plus, we added a whole sheet of people to our mailing list ...so we are all proud that our efforts were so well received!

John Jay & Rich, the morning show from KRQ Radio, agreed to kick off the show.

Green Valley author, Dave Caswell, shared excepts from his book "Laughter Prevents Wrinkles."

2EE the clown came and did face-painting for the kids!

A local DJ, DJ Camouflage, did a fabulous job donating his sound services for us, and Grandma Tony's pizza provided pizza and drinks for sale.

We had a comedian from Laughing Stock Comedy Comdey perform and several improv groups perform (Not Burnt Out Just Unscrewed and Big, Fat Elvis), who were great, especially when the two groups performed together!

Tucson Fun & Adventures Tucson Fun and Adventures brought a large group of our local Tucson singles to enjoy the show!

It was a great experience and we've learned a lot about what we'd like to do for next year!

We also had a celebratory party this weekend, thanks to Richard Flores for hosting us, to enjoy our success and discuss our plans for next year's event!

Jackie Gill I can't thank all of those who helped and supported us in our event enough...we would not have been able to pull it off without them...our Tucson Laughter Club members really stepped up and helped to bring this day to life!

I find it truly amazing that we actually had this event since this was only a glimmer of an idea that Jim and I brought home a few months ago from our training!

I actually sang a few songs to fill some extra time, which was positively received!

Thanks for all the love and support of our fellow leaders especially Mary Kay from St. Pete...Your phone call the night before inspired me to rise to the occassion of MCing our event when the situation called for it and I thank you!

And to you, the Gridley Middle School Drama Club, as well!
